Broadcasters have already discovered the advantages of using Axia networks

Broadcasters have already discovered the advantages of using Axia networks.

Less cost, less wiring and less setup time are just a few of the benefits gained from using Ethernet for real-time audio routing.

Now, broadcast intercom systems benefit from those same advantages. Axia IP Intercom Networks lower installed cost by using Cat-5 and standard switched Ethernet for instant communication between single or multiple stations. And if you already have an Axia network in your broadcast facilities, deployment is even easier. Axia IP Intercoms plug right into Livewire networks for tight integration with Axia broadcast consoles and routing systems; console operators' existing console mic and preview speaker are used to provide seamless intercom communications right from the board.

Building an IP-Intercom network with Axia is easy. Just place Axia intercom stations in studio turrets, TOC racks — wherever communications are needed. Connect them to your Axia network's nearest core or edge switch, and after some fast setup using your Web browser, you're ready to let the conversation flow.

Axia IP-Intercom equipment introduces AEC (Advanced Echo Cancellation) technology licensed from Germany's Fraunhofer Institute (the inventors of MP3). AEC is a revolutionary echo-cancellation technology that effectively suppresses acoustic feedback generated between open mics and speakers, producing amazingly clear, feedback-free audio.

Rackmount Intercom Panels

The IC.20 twenty-station intercom panel features 20 station presets for quick contact with frequently-called stations. Perfect for Master Control or TOC, the IC.20 includes a keypad and associated display for fast access to stations system-wide, plus group talk and auto-answer functions. Keypad can also dial outside phone lines (using an optional telephone hybrid). 2RU rackmount package features high-visibility 10-character OLED (organic LED) displays, built-in speaker, front- and rear-panel mic connections, 4-pin locking headset jack, analog I/O presented on both XLR and StudioHub-compatible RJ-45 connectors, GPIO connection for speaker mute/dim and external line-status tallies, and an Ethernet jack for single-cable network connection.

The ICX.10 Intercom Expander pairs with the IC.20 intercom panel. It adds 10 station presets (each with a sharp 10-character OLED display and talk and listen keys) to the IC.20 for a total of 30 station presets. A single Ethernet connection is all that's needed for connection; presets are programmed via the ICX.10's built-in Web interface.

The IC.1 ten-station intercom panel is a cost-effective way to add intercom capabilities anywhere they're needed. The ten LED backlit film-cap buttons can easily be labeled with station names; buttons are programmed using a built-in Web interface and any browser. Features include built-in speaker and front-panel 4-pin locking headset jack, front- and rear-panel mic inputs, analog I/O with both XLR and RJ-45 connectors, GPIO speaker mute/dim control, and an Ethernet port.

Console-Mounted Intercom Modules

If you already own Axia mixing consoles, you know how easy it is to use their built-in Talkback intercom functions for seamless communication between board ops, hosts, studio guests - even phone and codec callers.

Axia rackmount intercom panels work directly with Axia consoles, allowing operators to use their console mic and Preview speaker provide for fast intercom communications. But for even smoother integration, choose from these drop-in modules for Element consoles that bring intercom functions right to the board-op's fingertips.

A modular version of the IC.20 intercom panel, the Element 20-Station OLED intercom module occupies two frame positions and provides instant access to twenty preprogrammed intercom stations. Individual talk and listen buttons are combined with bright, easy-toread OLED displays for fast operator access to frequently-called stations; auto-answer functions are also provided. Mic audio is taken directly from the console operator's microphone; speaker audio is directed to the console's preview speaker. Includes dedicated listen volume control, individual mic and speaker mute keys and group talk functions. Overbridge display works with Element monitor module numeric keypad to give direct access to any station systemwide, and can also be used to dial outside phone lines for intercom conversations (using an optional telephone hybrid). Station presets and GPIO functions are programmed using any standard Web browser. The Element 10-Station OLED intercom module occupies one frame position and includes ten preset locations with 10- character OLED displays, auto-answer function, dedicated listen volume control, and mute keys for speaker and mic.
The Element 10-Station Film-Cap intercom module features ten LED-backlit film-cap buttons that can be easily labeled with the names of intercom stations. This module occupies one frame position and provides a dedicated listen volume control, speaker and mic mute buttons and single-button calling of up to 10 preset stations.
