DPA Microphone Sound Recordist Takes DPA Heavy Duty 4061 Mic into River Water
2014-09-26

British sound recordist David Harcombe has tailored an reputation as an extreme sound recordist, working extensively for Discovery recording in locations all over the world including Ghana and Siberia. Harcombe has some pretty extreme projects coming up, including working with Bear Grylls, and being curious about the durability of DPA's new d:screet™ Heavy Duty 4061 lavalier microphone, rigged himself with one before taking a dive into a reservoir in West London to test it out.

In his video demonstration, David explains, "What I'm trying to find out is how the water clears out from the capsule, because that's the thing that always (kinda) kills us...", before submerging himself and the heavy duty microphone in the river water in a reservoir in West London. The result when he comes back up is quite surprising. Watch the video below to find out how the DPA microphone performs in extreme conditions after being fully submerged in river water.
