Warm Audio Releases Two Recreations of Legendary Guitar Pedals, One Everyone Knows and One Everyone Should Know
Introducing the Centavo, an accurate recreation of the most sought-after golden overdrive pedal, and the Warmdrive, a true reproduction of a legendary amp-in-a-box pedal delivering that special, overdriven amp sound

Austin, TX - October 25, 2022 - Warm Audio, the leading manufacturer of faithful recreations of legendary recording gear, announces Centavo and Warmdrive, adding two new authentic recreations to their pedal lineup. The Centavo is a true-to-original overdrive pedal that authentically recreates the legendary experience and adored tones of the now-discontinued 90’s professional overdrive pedal. The Warmdrive is a true reproduction of a highly revered pedal known for delivering the tones of an otherwise unattainable overdriven amp. Both pedals use premium components in their true-to-original circuit designs to faithfully reproduce these iconic tones. Centavo and Warmdrive are available now at authorized retailers worldwide.

“It’s exciting to bring these classic overdrives to market so that a greater audience of guitar players now has access to these legendary sounds,” said Bryce Young, Founder and President of Warm Audio. “The inspiration for Centavo, the more popular of the two, has a near ‘mythical’ legacy. The original, professional overdrive pedal has been seen on the boards of everyone from John Mayer to Paul McCartney to Joe Perry, and now that sound and authentic experience is within reach for more players.”

Young continues, “While the pedal that inspired Warmdrive may not be nearly as well-known, it’s highly revered by those who know the greats: both players and amps. This iconic amp sound and the pedal that recreates it was made famous by virtuosos like Joe Bonamassa, Robben Ford and Stevie Ray Vaughn. We’re excited to give more players worldwide access to the most legendary overdriven amp-in-a-box pedal experience.”

Centavo
Whether you’re after the fabled clean boost tones, transparent overdrive, or you want to push your dirty channels to true grit - the Centavo has all of the adored tones of the original, legendary box. To achieve the true-to-original overdrive tone, Centavo uses carefully selected components including TL072 op amps and premium diodes that deliver those signature clean boost, edge-of breakup, and hard clipping sounds. Faithful to the vintage pedal design, the Centavo circuit is housed in a custom-cast golden enclosure with carefully tapered oxblood tone knobs.

The Centavo has three simple controls on the front panel - gain, treble, and output, just like the original. Alongside the original sounds expected from the vintage pedal, the Centavo also has a “MOD” switch on the back. When in the “up” position, the switch engages the mod made famous by Jeff Beck, extending the low end response on the lower guitar strings by changing the value on the high pass filter. Between the carefully buffered circuit design, custom-cast “champagne” gold enclosure, and premium component selection, the Warm Audio Centavo is unapologetically authentic and delivers all aspects of this legendary pedal experience.

Warmdrive
The Warmdrive is a true reproduction of an amp-in-a-box pedal delivering that special overdriven amp sound. Whether you’re looking to dial in a transparent overdrive tone, push a tube amp to saturation, or solo with punch and clarity, the Warmdrive has all of the tones of a truly unattainable amplifier. The Warmdrive pairs premium components like 2N7000 MOSFETs and 1N34a Germanium / Schottky BAT41 diodes with a true-to-original circuit design to achieve the same tone and sonic profile of this very “zen” pedal.

The “secret sauce” of the Warmdrive, just like the original, is the unique voice/tone control combination on the stomp box. This control setup gives artists a little extra versatility compared to the average overdrive pedal, allowing the player to modify the frequency both before (voice control) and after (tone control) the clipping stages. Playing with the knobs can create dynamic sounds that almost seem like two guitar signals going at once, all the way to a saturated cascading gain tone that makes it easy to get lost in a solo jam. The amount of gain and overall saturation on tap in the Warmdrive needs to be experienced to fully understand the amp-like tones on tap.
